Tips:

• If the name of the farm is blue with an underline; that's a link to their website or Facebook page. Click on it for the most current hours and information.
• ALWAYS email or call the farm or store BEFORE YOU GO - many farms have closed in the past year, and of course, we won't know until the season starts and we find they aren't open! Call to confirm their supply, their hours and whether they have trees, are allowing choose-and-cut or just precut trees; and which attractions or winter activities are available. All three can change during the short Christmas season, due to weather, demand and the farmer's business conditions! Rutland County

• Green Mountain National Forest Christmas Tree Permit - Choose and cut Christmas trees
  231 N Main St, Rutland, VT 05701. This permit allows you to cut a Christmas Tree within designated areas of the Green Mountain National Forest! Lifelong memories are built during these special times and we are happy to help with any information gathering you'll need to make this trip a safe and enjoyable one. Forest Products permits must be purchased at one of our offices.Green Mountain Offices in Vermont and Finger Lakes Offices in New York. The Green Mountain offers Christmas tree permits. Cutting Christmas trees on a National Forest makes an excellent winter tradition. However, due to the Forest's geography, Christmas tree permits are not issued on the Finger Lakes National Forest. This permit allows you to cut a Christmas Tree within designated areas of the Green Mountain National Forest! Christmas tree permits are issued under the following conditions:
  Permit cost $5 and is non-refundable.
  Only 1 permit issued per household per year.
  Trees obtained under the Christmas tree permit may not be resold.
  Permits can be purchased online through recreation.gov.
  Rules for Harvesting
  Trees over 20 feet tall are not covered by the permit.
  The tree must be cut at a point no higher than 6 inches off the ground.

Adorned in all-leather handmade Amish harnesses, studded with brass and 100 bells hand cast in Vermont announcing their arrival, take a journey back in time in a two horse open sleigh with Jerry & Jessy. The sleigh ride winds along a wooded trail along the Winhall River and provides an old-fashioned New England winter experience. The ride lasts about an hour and includes a stop along the river at a campfire, giving the horses a rest. Deb encourages folks to bring along a snack or wine & cheese to enjoy while at the fire. Although the sleigh can accommodate up to 10 people and is ideal for family fun, it's often reserved for a romantic ride for two (what a great way to propose to that special someone!).
